Process

At the beginning of every custom piece is a conversation between me and the client, where we meet one-on-one to share ideas and dream up your ideal design. From there, I craft the piece with great care and attention to detail, involving you in each step of the process. From choosing fabrics to refining silhouettes, we work closely together to bring your vision to life.

It's best to start this process at least six months in advance to ensure we have the time and space to create your piece with the attention it deserves. Read below for more specific details on the steps involved.

1. Consultation

This is where we begin. During our initial meeting, we’ll explore your ideas, timeline, and any inspiration you may have. It’s a chance to get to know each other, and for you to ask questions and see if this process feels right. There’s no pressure to commit — just an open, honest conversation about what’s possible.

2. Design + Measurements

Once we decide to move forward, I’ll begin by drafting your design and taking detailed measurements. We’ll look at fabric options together and finalize the overall concept. This stage is collaborative and flexible — whether you know exactly what you want or are still exploring, I’ll help guide the design to reflect your style and story.

3. Fitting

A series of fittings allows us to perfect every detail. We’ll begin with a simple sample version of your piece to adjust the fit, shape, and proportions. Most garments go through about four fittings, depending on the design. This step is all about precision and refinement — ensuring that your gown feels just right and moves with you beautifully.

4. Finishing touches

Once all fittings are complete and every detail has been refined, your gown is finished by hand with care and precision. It will be pressed, packaged, and ready for pickup or delivery.

FAQ

How far in advance should I start the custom dress process?

With custom work, the earlier the better! This will allow us to order specialty materials and carefully fit and adjust your piece. Ideally, you should start the process at least 6 months or more in advance.

How much does a custom gown cost?

Pricing varies based on the complexity of the design, materials, and number of fittings. Typically, custom corsets start at $3,000, while a mini or reception dress starts at $5,000 and full gowns start at $10,000. If you have a specific look in mind, please contact us and we can provide a more accurate quote.

Do you work with clients outside of Vancouver?

Yes — depending on the project, remote fittings and consultations may be possible. We can discuss your location and needs to see what’s feasible.

What materials can I choose from?

We have a selection of high quality french lace, and multiple silk weaves including satin, chiffon, organza and similar textiles that are always available. Additionally, we will often source specialty fabrics specific to your needs, such as custom colours or beaded embroidery.

Can you work with sentimental or heirloom fabrics?

Yes. If you have a special fabric or item you'd like to incorporate, we can explore how to thoughtfully include it in your design.
